Former National President receives Australian Honour

We are delighted Cr Darriea Turley, Mayor of Broken Hill, has been made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). Darriea was the National ALGWA President from 2009-2012, when she was required to step down in accordance with the constitution. She served on the National Board from 2004 as the NSW representative. Darriea was ALGWA NSW President from 2004-2006 and a NSW Board member for 20 years. She is currently on the Board of Local Government NSW. She received her award For significant service to the community of Broken Hill in the heath, social welfare and education sectors and to women in local government.

We congratulate Darria on her well-deserved honour and recognition of her tireless work.
