Australian Honour to ALGWA Pioneer

Former Mandurah City councillor Marion Blair was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to local government, the community and to women. Marion Blair was a city councillor from 2009 to 2013, deputy mayor of the City of Belmont (1994-2003) and a councillor from 1987 to 2006. In 2002, she founded the Australian Local Government Women’s Association WA, for which she was inaugural chair and first president and a life member. In 2003, she ran workshops to encourage women to stand for local government and to promote networking for women officers in local government.
